This year is all about self-love. Now is the time to start mastering self-care and to find ways to take better care of yourself. Start prioritizing wellness and pamper yourself from home with these budget-friendly self-care habits. You can easily incorporate these affordable wellness girl habits into your weekly self-care routine to live a calmer life and feel your best throughout the week.
#1 Lymphatic Massage
First on the list of budget-friendly self-care habits to take better care of yourself is lymphatic massage. You can do lymphatic massage daily to assist with lymphatic drainage.
You should use light pressure, brushing along your skin towards your heart. Start with your neck, under your collarbone and pectoralis region, and in your armpit or axillary region.
As you gently sweep your hand in the direction of your heart, apply light and constant pressure to your skin. Repeat the motion around 20 times to help the body flush excess lymph fluid, reduce swelling, improve circulation, and improve lymph reabsorption.
#2 Practice Positive Affirmations
The next way to practice self-care is to repeat positive affirmations. Mastering self-care is all about feeling good mentally and physically.
You can do this by repeating positive affirmations every day. As you affirm positive thoughts, you’ll boost your mood and shift your mindset to be more optimistic.
You can repeat these self-love affirmations daily to improve your self-concept, feel more confident, and boost feelings of self-worth which will make an incredible difference in your mood each day.
#3 Practice Good Sleep Hygiene
The next step to add to your daily self-care routine is practicing good sleep hygiene. Sleep is essential to your overall health and longevity. Quality sleep may even increase your life span.
Discovering ways to sleep more deeply and have better quality sleep, can drastically improve how you feel. Try to get between 7-10 hours of sleep each night. This will help reduce anxiety, manage stress, and optimize your health.
Improve your sleep habits and remain disciplined when it comes to sleep hygiene. This means going to bed at the same time, waking up at the same time, reducing screen time before bed, and sticking to a relatively similar bedtime routine.

#4 Prioritize Plant-Based Foods
The next way to practice self-care affordably is to prioritize plant-based foods. Eating healthier starts with fueling your body with whole foods.
When you constantly feed yourself simple processed sugars, your energy will go through extreme peaks and dips. This can make you feel less energized and more fatigued.
Choosing primarily plant-based foods will make you feel more full with fewer calories due to their high volume and low caloric density.
Also, plant-based foods tend to have a higher fiber content which can improve digestion and help you sustain your energy throughout the day.
#5 Dry Brushing
Another way to improve your weekly self-care routine is with dry brushing. Dry brushing can help exfoliate the skin and improve circulation as it stimulates the peripheral nerve receptors and increases blood flow to the skin. This can also help with lymphatic drainage.
Use light brush strokes across the surface of your skin for a few minutes. Brush in circular motions or stroke upward when starting at your feet or your hands.
Brush towards your heart to help with circulation. I often do dry brushing before I take a shower, and follow up with lots of moisturizer such as coconut oil or another body oil.

#6 Regulate Your Nervous System
If you often deal with stress or overwhelming feelings throughout the week, you need to start regulating your nervous system.
Using nervous system regulation techniques can help calm your mind and body and help you live stress-free. You can use mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing, journaling, or meditation.
You may also want to try deep pressure input with a weighted blanket or moving your body through gentle stretching or low-impact exercises.

#7 Write Down Your Schedule
Another one of the easiest budget-friendly self-care habits to start is writing down your schedule. This will help you stay more organized which can easily reduce stress in your life and increase your productivity.
Write down any activities, chores, or appointments you need to get done each day. This will keep you on schedule and more accountable.
When scheduling, put any chores or work you need to get done at the beginning of your week when you have the most energy and motivation. Also, make sure to schedule time for yourself to explore new hobbies or to simply relax and reset.

#8 Practice Gratitude
If you want to instantly improve your self-care regimen and boost your mood, start practicing gratitude. It’s incredibly simple and will help change your perspective to appreciate the little things in life.
When you focus on all the good in your life, you heal your energy and allow more abundance to come in.
Focusing on gratitude will also help you become a more optimistic person and live a happier life as you feel more fulfilled with your present circumstances.

#9 Make Time for Yourself
One of the best budget-friendly self-care habits is making time for yourself. Stop waiting to prioritize yourself. You deserve time to focus on you. It’ll help you become more in touch with your emotions and allow you to relax and reset throughout the week.
When you’re constantly running around from work to extracurricular activities and never have a moment to yourself, it’s easy to become burnt out, overwhelmed, or exhausted. You need time to reconnect with yourself and decompress.
Making time for yourself to try a fun and affordable hobby, take yourself on a date, or pamper yourself with a spa night at home, can improve your mental health. It’ll rejuvenate you so that you can take on each new day with motivation and enthusiasm.
#10 Set Boundaries
Another easy way to practice self-care is by setting boundaries. Start prioritizing yourself rather than focusing on everyone else’s needs and desires.
You have one life. Stop wasting it on people who don’t deserve your love and attention. Stop spending your energy on toxic friendships or at a job that isn’t serving you anymore.
Don’t be afraid to set boundaries with your time and energy. Figure out what behaviors you’re willing to accept or what circumstances you will allow in your life. If you don’t feel aligned with a job, a person, or an opportunity, don’t be afraid to walk away.
Failing to set boundaries will only keep you unhappy or unsatisfied. It’s your life. Stop wasting your time, your most valuable resource, on people and things that no longer serve you or make you feel good.
#11 Move Your Body
Another one of our budget-friendly self-care habits to do every day, is exercise. Daily movement is essential to mastering self-care and prioritizing self-love. You can move your body with gentle stretching, low-impact workouts, or fun sports.
However, if you decide to move your body, make sure it makes you feel energized and allows you to release any stress. Focus on what makes your body feel good and stick to a consistent routine.
Moving your body will help improve your physical health, as well as your mental health as you get rid of stress and release any pent-up emotions.

#12 Call the People You Care About
Last on the list of budget-friendly habits to add to your self-care regimen is calling the people you care about. Too many times we get caught up with life, going through the motions each day, and overextending ourselves with work.
Over time, this can make you feel disconnected from the people you love. Do your mental health a favor and call the people you care about.
You’d be surprised how a quick vent session or simply touching in with a loved one can turn around a bad mood. It’ll make you feel more fulfilled and can easily calm your mind.
